Microsoft Unveils First Details Of Their Next Gen Console; Code-named Project Scarlett

While as of late, Playstation 5 news has pretty much dominated, Microsoft have come back with answer to silence PS fanboys. Their latest development, Code-named Project Scarlett is their next gen console coming in Holiday season of 2020. Now, that isn’t as far away as you’d think. The console will launch with Halo Infinite, so that’s a nice nod to fans of the Xbox and exclusives.

Frankly, there isn’t much to go on at this point. They showed off a video at their E3 conference, talking about Project Scarlett, and here’s some of the details they do mention. Project Scarlett will include a custom CPU based on AMD’s Zen 2 and Radeon RDNA architecture, 8K gaming, 120fps in games, improved ray tracing, and a built in SSD. That all sounds fine and dandy, and that SSD is sure to beef up loading times to practically nothing. Well, that’s what Microsoft is spouting off anyway. Now, there isn’t much of a market for Xbox in Malaysia, or anywhere out of the U.S. really. So this might not be as exciting to you. But better competition, will make for Playstation to work on a better version themselves.

I mean, Playstation is clearly where it’s at. Even the specs that Microsoft revealed, seem to be quite similar to what Sony revealed about their console, so at the very least, they both seem on par at the moment. But who ends up winning the console wars, might still be us, the people who actually use these devices. I mean, no load times? Sweeeeet.
