300,000 Applications Already Received Via ‘Gerak Malaysia’ App

In a mere 12 hours, the police already received 300,000 applications via the Gerak Malaysia app.

Of the 300,000, 100,000 of them are applications for an interstate travel permit.

“These are applications from those who were stranded at their hometowns and could not return home after the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO),” said Bukit Aman CID director, Datuk Huzir Mohamed.

The numbers are expected to double by Friday, May 1 2020.

“The police have to ensure each application received is only for good reason so that the inter-state movement would proceed smoothly,” he added.

Police will continue to monitor and review applications via the Gerak Malaysia app. Their findings will be presented to the government so they could permit a travel date in line with the total number of applications.

More details on the movement schedule will be provided soon.
