For some strange reason, the loosening of MCO rules has led to an increase in cases of drunk driving incidents. One such incident which happened this morning has already drew the ire of netizens and we can now confirm that the driver, Khor Yong Zang, 21, has been charged in the Magistrates Court with causing the death of a 44-year old food delivery man while driving under the influence on the Sultan Iskandar Highway today.

The fatal road accident which occurred at 1.30 am this morning saw Khor’s Nissan Grand Livinia crash into Mohamed Zaili Mohamed, who was on his way home after delivering food sold by his wife. With Khor’s blood alcohol level reportedly twice the legal limit at 161 mg/100 ml, he now faces being fined between RM8,000 and RM20,000, or jail time ranging from three to 10 years on top of having his driving licence revoked.

For now, Khor’s driving licence has been suspended and bail has been set at RM6,000 with one guarantor. The court has also set a July 1 date for the submission all documentation.
