AIMS Data Centre Sdn Bhd (AIMS) has acquired approximately 10 acres of land in Cyberjaya to build a 200MW AI-ready data centre, scheduled for completion in 2027.
The facility, with an estimated investment of RM4 billion, will incorporate energy and water efficiency measures.
The expansion is part of AIMS’ broader strategy to increase data centre capacity in Malaysia and support the country’s growing role as a regional hub for cloud and AI services.
“Beyond adding capacity to fuel the strong demand, we are investing in nation-building, from creating jobs and upskilling local talent to enabling Malaysia to serve as the home base for global cloud service providers, fintech players and AI innovators,” said AIMS CEO Chiew Kok Hin.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Digital, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and other government agencies.
Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo said the investment aligns with Malaysia’s goal of becoming an “AI Nation by 2030.”
MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil noted that the development would further strengthen Cyberjaya’s position as a regional centre for digital services.
Since 2023, following DigitalBridge’s investment in AIMS, the company has invested over RM2 billion in Malaysia’s data centre infrastructure, serving regional cloud operators and enterprises.
The new facility is expected to expand the country’s digital infrastructure and support AI, cloud, IoT, and data-driven industries.
