Having a camera on a phone was a huge deal back in the early 2000s. For us to own a phone with multiple camera setup now is not difficult. There is no doubt that smartphone companies are in a race to introduce more number of cameras into a smartphone. However, LG decided to take the camera game to a whole new level by patenting 16 camera lenses into a smartphone.

The patent describes the different angles the cameras are setup, which was initially seen in LG’s V40 ThinQ. What’s described in the patent is that all the camera angles are combined to create a miniature film. We have seen the miniature film by Apple called the Live Photo and Samsung’s photo live motion. Also, the cameras are capable of capturing images of people and allow you to pick the best picture to be featured in the image.

This is merely just a patent and not everything that is patented will make it to production. With the smartphones camera battle getting intense, there could be a higher chance of LG pulling it off.
