Breaking into the global market has been a long term ambition for Xiaomi after having established itself as ‘jaguh kampung’ with its smartphones and all kind of electronic gadgetry. The Shenzhen based technology company has had a deep unrelenting desire to spread its products to other part of the world but was restricted due to patent rights.

Now that matter can be resolved with the Nokia collaboration giving the room for Xiaomi to navigate around regulations and legal discrepancy. The other focus of the new collaboration is the cooperation in the field of telecommunications and networking technologies. Kicking off will be the shared project on the Nokia FP4 processor, created specifically for routers, that will gear for both company’s on the Internet of Things revolution.

Xiaomi’s leader Lei Jun described the collaboration as “Together with Nokia, we can help people around the world fully enjoy scientific and technological innovation.”
