Xiaomi has announced that the Xiaomi Mi8 will be available for sale in Malaysia from August. The flagship-level device boasts specs that are usually seen on high-end devices but priced like a mid-ranger.
Out of the box, the phone features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 12MP dual-cameras and a very eye-catching design. Users can choose between two configurations in Malaysia – 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. Both versions will be available in three colours – Black, Blue and White.
Alongside the high-performance chipset, the Mi8 features a large 6.21″ full HD+ AMOLED display. The screen is protected with a 2.5D glass, and the 18.7:9 screen aspect ratio means you get 86.68% screen to body ratio.
Gaming will not be a problem thanks to the combination of the Snapdragon processor and the Adreno 630 graphics core. Plus Xiaomi included the Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE) to enhance AI performance on the Mi8. The new processor delivers 30% better performance over the last generation, and uses 30% less power at the same time. This gives the 3400mAh battery a longer endurance over the day. At the same time, Qualcomm Quickcharge 4+ means power can be topped up in a jiffy without waiting too long to charge.

The Xiaomi Mi8 is available from 16 August onward. The prices will be RM 1,599 for the 6GB/64GB model, while the 6GB/128GB model will be priced at RM 1,899. The former will be available on Lazada and Shopee, while the latter will also be available from Authorized Mi stores nationwide alongside online retailers Lazada and Shopee.
