Why WhatsApp’s Dark Mode Is Taking So Long; Because There’s Two Of Them

WhatsApp, one of my most used apps, but one of the only on my phone that STILL doesn’t have a dark mode. But now it seems, it’s been for good reason. Even though both of the latest operating systems, iOS 13 and Android 10 both have system wide dark modes, WhatsApp is the only one sticking out like a sore thumb. At least we’ve got some news now.

According to WABetaInfo.com, the latest WhatsApp beta version points to the fact that WhatsApp is working on two different dark modes.

The first dark mode uses a grey tone for the background, and a AMOLED jet-black for menu items and other interactive parts in the app.

The second dark mode uses a pitch-black background and a lighter grey option for the menu items and such. This is probably the one I’m going to use, alongside many others with OLED panels because the pitch-black shade helps to conserve battery.

And those are the two options, hopefully coming soon. Low-key I just like an all black aesthetic for my themes and devices, so I’m more looking forward to uniformity. WhatsApp just blinds me everytime I turn it on before bed. Sigh, #firstworldproblems.
