Microsoft has finally changed their logo for their Chromium-based Edge browser from the Internet Explorer logo. Admittedly, the Edge browser is a good browser for what it’s worth, but the one thing that might’ve held it back was the fact that it still had a logo reminiscent of Internet Explorer. I mean, if I didn’t have everything I have synced up to Chrome, I might even use the browser. But alas, Chrome makes things too easy.
They’re finally changing things up, as the Edge gets the new logo. It’s still supposed to say ‘e’ so, it’s not totally different, but they’ve come into the modern era of abstract icons representing your apps, rather than a literal one. But the weird part about the updated icon, is that it wasn’t even announced. It was apparently buried under a hidden surfing mini game in the latest Edge update. This was reportedly an elaborate Easter egg hunt, as The Verge reports.

But with the logo now out and about, it’s only a matter of time till Microsoft officially acknowledges the release version. Also, am I the only one who thinks this is a case of too little too late? Don’t get me wrong, as I mentioned above, it’s still a good browser. But the fact that it’s not Chrome, makes it hard for me to switch. It isn’t actually the functionality of Chrome that I’d miss, but rather it’s convenience.
And as a final side note, doesn’t this logo kind of look like Mozilla’s Firefox Browser logo?
I mean, just saying.
