The V15 and The V15 Pro, really don’t have all that much that makes them that different. The most noticeable being, the price tag. The V15 is RM 1399 while the V15 Pro costs a little more, RM 1799. So now we’re coming at you with the review of the Vivo V15, and exactly how much is missing from the Pro version. Maybe you’d be more comfortable, or find that the V15 is more suited to you. Or maybe if the V15 Pro’s RM 400 difference is worth the money. Sit back, and check out our review, of the V15.

Similar Design To The V15 Pro; Nothing New

The design of the phone looks great. The V15 comes in two colours, Glamour Red and Topaz Blue, and a metallic, almost glittery like back. The phone features a seemless front like it’s big brother the V15 Pro, but features a 6.53″ FHD+ display. The weird part is the V15 Pro actually comes in at 6.39″ while being the “Pro” version. So the inconsistency there puzzles me, but maybe there’s compromises made that increase the screen size which makes it lack somewhere else.

The aspect ratio that comes with it, is therefore 19.5:9. Kind of a weird number, but the display looks great and having no notch only makes it better. The colours on the back take a little of getting used to, becasue of the shine. It also catches fingerprints pretty easily, so be warned on that aspect if you’re a particular stickler for it. Otherwise, it’s sleek, the UI is easy enough to use even though it’s got tonnes of bloatware, and oh did I mention that TikTok came pre-installed? Weird. But I was willing to overlook all that for the display. Having nothing interrupting your display, is great for video, general use, and basically everything. It just looks good.

Camera; Good Enough For The Price

The main appeal of the V15 and V15 Pro was the cameras attached to the devices. The V15 Pro ran smoothly, and took some pretty good pictures. The V15 is no exception. The phone features a triple AI camera setup on the back, and has these specs; 12MP（24 million photosensitive units）+8MP + 5MP. Not insanely high numbers, but the camera did the job. The front camera features a 32MP motorized camera. The camera, because of it’s position, makes selfies look weird. It’s because the camera is in the top right, so when taking a selfie, you tend to look at the screen. Because of this, beware of taking some pictures with your eyes looking at the screen rather than the camera. But I’m guessing users get used to it overtime, but it’s a definite turn off for me.

Oh, and also, the Beauty mode. It’s a feature I’m sure many will love, but I’m mostly creeped out by it. The Beauty mode basically removes blemishes, scars, etc, and makes you look basically nothing like yourself. So be careful guys, next time you chat up a girl, ask her what phone she has. She might not appear the same in real life.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, whenever I review a new phone, I use them to take pictures at events. This tests the phone as if it was my daily driver, and if the photos come out a bit wonky, we all know who to blame. But anyway, check out the pictures!

Usability And Sensors 

The phone featured multiple different aspects and features. But coming off the fact that I’ve been using the V15 Pro before this, I was already used to the UI and everything. The phone runs smooth, but keep in mind about the chipset in the phone. The V15 Pro features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675, while the V15 features a MediaTek Helio P70. So, there’s the biggest difference in terms of performance. While it’s all numbers, while in use, I didn’t notice any lags, or anything that would make the phone ‘unusable’. So keep it in mind, but not necessarily something to dissuade you from the cheaper V15. There also is a lot installed when you first open it up. The fact there’s so much bloatware, makes the user experience a tad less enjoyable. Some things you can’t even delete. And that’s the one thing that I always see in these phones I review, is exactly how much bloatware there is and how easy the user interface is to use.

Something to note, is that the V15 actually lost out against the Huawei nova 4 in the benchmark tests. While it’s understandable, as the V15 is a few hundred Ringgit cheaper, but the V15 didn’t lose by that much. As long as you’re not running PUBG in the highest graphics, you should be fine.

One thing that’s a definite difference between the V15 and it’s Pro version, is the fingerprint sensor. On the Pro, the fingerprint sensor is located in the screen, and depending on what kind of person you are, you might hate or love it. There have been times that onscreen fingerprint sensors just don’t detect my fingerprints. And it happens way more than you’d think, and even so on the V15 Pro. However, The V15 has the sensor on the back, and it’s a physical sensor. And it works just as speedy as ever. Barely any issues reading the fingerprint, and therefore, is why I always recommend physical sensors instead of onscreen ones.

Final Verdict

At the end of the day, both the V15 and V15 Pro are almost identical. There really isn’t much that’s different, and therefore I’d say, just save yourself the 400 Ringgit and get the V15. The Pro has a better camera, but everything else is too similar to justify paying a bit more.
