
For something a little bit different, a new collaboration that will catch your eye is now available in Malaysia. Uniqlo has worked with Nintendo to create limited run t-shirts that feature they famous IPs and characters, and the t-shirts are now available for sale at your nearest Uniqlo store.
The company will begin selling all 25 winning designs from its Nintendo-themed UNIQLO T-shirt (UT) Grand Prix 2017 design contest. The contest attracted a record 16,000 entries from artists all over the world. The top three winners were selected by Shigeru Miyamoto, legendary game developer. The winning design featured a Mario motif based on the original 8-bit game. In second and third place were designs utilizing Splatoon and Zelda themes.
UNIQLO started this design competition in 2005 to foster creativity and talent around the world, making it open to anyone regardless of age, gender, or nationality. The contest invited people to create original T-shirt designs inspired by Nintendo’s timeless characters, including from Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, the Donkey Kong series, and other games. Designs were also permitted to feature characters from such titles as Animal Crossing, Star Fox, Pikmin, Metroid, Kirby and Splatoon, as well as the world-famous Pokémon.
The t-shirts are priced at RM 59.00 for men & women, and RM 39.90 for kids – including GST. The designs are available in multiple sizes, from XS-4XL for men, XS-3XL for women, and 100cm-150cm for kids Note: Men’s XS, 2XL-4XL, Women’s XS, 2XL, 3XL, Kids’ 110cm items are available only from the UNIQLO.com Online Store.
