UNIQLO AIRism Masks Set To Revolutionize Face Mask Breatheability For Malaysians In Hot Weather

I think as Malaysians, we can all relate to burning in the hot sun but it has never been THAT big of a problem. I mean, you can just wear less clothes, or carry a portable fan or not go out. That last one is a personal favourite of mine.

Things have however, become more complicated with the advent of the contagion that is the coronavirus wreaking havoc all around us. We need to be covering up more and more and seeing as it is state mandated now, there is really no excuse. However, the problem is that regular face masks have a knack for leaving us feeling clammy and uncomfortably sweaty which is not fun as you go about your day. Enter the UNIQLO AIRism mask.

Officially launching in Malaysian stores on 14 September, UNIQLO’s AIRism Mask offers a unique triple layer structure which also has a 50 rating on Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF), cutting out 90 percent of ultraviolet rays. The mask is considered safer than most other conventional cloth masks because of the three layers.

For those familiar with the AIRism line at UNIQLO, it is a lifesaver as it offers inner wear that keeps sweat prone users “dry and comfortable all day long”.

The inner layer of the masks are made from the AIRism material which according to UNIQLO, makes it “more comfortable than non-woven or cotton masks.” This will mean that the mask will provide for good breatheability.

For those wanting to keep environmentally conscious, the mask is washable and still maintains shape and efficacy after 20 washes at 40 degrees. The mask is also made for cleanliness as the center of the masks contains a filter delivering a bacterial filtration efficiency of 99 percent. A mesh fabric sandwiches the filter.

However, the mask is not meant for medical use as it does not completely prevent against infiltration. The mask should be worn during strenuous exercise or in the hot sun.

The masks come in three sizes including small (18cm x 12cm), medium (22cm x 14cm) and large (23cm x 14.5cm). The price for each pack, which comes with 3 masks, is RM39.90 which in my opinion, is relatively competitive.
