UnionPay International Partners With Boost & GoPayz To Enable More Digital Payment Options

Global payment network UnionPay has partnered with two leading e-wallet providers – Boost and U Mobile’s e-wallet GoPayz – to enable more digital payment options for Malaysian consumers.

With the partnership with Boost, users can now use the Boost e-wallet app to make Quick Response (QR) Code payment at merchants nationwide, including at brands such as Old Town White Coffee, Putien and Orange Convenience Store. As part of the UPI-Boost partnership roadmap, Boost users can also expect to be able to pay with the Boost app at over 16 million UnionPay QR merchants in the future.

As an introductory offer, the first 180,000 users who activate UnionPay QR payment on their Boost app by 31 December 2019 can receive an instant RM3 cashback, while those who spend a minimum of RM300 at selected UnionPay merchants such as Dimensi Exklusif, be Duty Free and Colours and Fragrances can receive an instant RM30 cashback.

UPI’s partnership with GoPayz provides GoPayz users with more ways to make digital payments locally and overseas by using the new UnionPay Virtual Card available on the e-wallet app. In addition, GoPayz is looking to enable NFC payment on the app, which will allow users to make payments locally and overseas with a tap of their mobile phones at 19 million UnionPay mobile contactless merchants around the world.

Looks like the e-Wallet war is ramping up, and we’re still on the edge of our seats looking at who’ll come out on top. While it’s a battle for the digital payment companies, it’s just a benefit for us, the users really. Can’t wait till we eventually come to a full cashless society. Not likely, but a man can dream right?
