Everybody hates traffic jams. Everybody hates going through that long journey and ends up being late anyway. Uber is working to eliminate all this by doing one thing: offering an airborne taxi service.

By collaborating with NASA, Uber is planning to create a brand new air traffic control system to support their forthcoming UberAir service, which basically involves flying taxis that would cut long city trips into just minutes. While it is currently still being developed in Dubai, Dallas and Los Angeles, the service is expected to be offered to the public by 2020.

Flights can easily be booked through the app, just as you would with a normal ride, but the difference is that the users would have to make their way to the nearest ‘Skyport’ and scan the barcode given by the app before joining a small group of other passengers who are also up for the ride.

Uber’s electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles is said to be cleaner and quieter than most modes of air travel. Apart from that, this new service by Uber aims to reduce pollution and congestion on the ground.
