U Mobile Provides Free Internet Access to 12 PPRs to Support The B40 Group

U Mobile, the data-centric and award-winning telco, is providing free internet connectivity to residents in 12 Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) locations across the nation as part of its COVID-19 relief efforts.

The access is open to all residents but is especially useful for students as the data is adapted for productivity and learning purposes. The residents can access the free internet service in the selected PPRs at specific locations in the various common areas.

This effort is a portion of a joint industry initiative which kicked off in January 2021 and will run until April 30. 

The 12 PPRs are as follows.

  2. PA Jalan Hang Tuah
  3. PPR Seri Anggerik
  4. PPR Pekan Kepong
  5. PA Seri Perak
  6. PPR Perkasa


  1. RPA Alor Malai 1

Pulau Pinang

  1. PPR Taman Manggis
  2. Mak Mandin Hijau


  1. Rumah Flat Jalan Haji Ismail Hassan, Kluang


  1. RP Ujong Pasir
  2. PPR Kg Padang

Other initiatives taken to address issues to handle throughout the pandemic.

  1. RM800,000 total contribution to IMARET and MERCY Malaysia for COVID-19 relief efforts. 
  2. Sponsorship of connectivity and devices to B40 students in Sabah and Penang
  3. Sponsorship of connectivity and devices to frontliners at Hospital Queen Elizabeth, Sabah

On January 6, U Mobile introduced its 2021 SPM/ STPM Special Data Package in support of SPM and STPM students, which has since been expanded to include students in institutions of higher learning effective from January 25 2021. 


It is also a part of a joint industry initiative, under the Perlindungan Ekonomi dan Rakyat Malaysia (PERMAI) Assistance Package announced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, on January 18.


U Mobile has also extended the validity of its free 30GB per month (free 1GB daily) internet offering for productivity and learning purposes until April 30 for postpaid and prepaid customers. The extension is also aligned with the Prime Minister’s PERMAI announcement.
