Dreaming of owning the new iPhone 6 but can’t afford it? Well, now you can!
U Mobile has finally launched its own iPhone plans and there’s one that should get many of you excited – U Mobile’s new U MicroCredit. The iPhone 6 is a device that many can’t afford, even with subsidised plans. That’s where U Mobile comes in with U MicroCredit.
In collaboration with Berjaya Credit, potential subscribers to the new plan can walk out of stores with a shiny new iPhone 6 for as low as RM98 a month. For all intends and purposes, U Mobile’s plan is currently the lowest in cost of ownership.
The new U MicroCredit is like a mini loan. What you have to do is apply online or at any of U Mobile’s stores to sign up for the programme, and pick their choice of iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, along with the payment plan they prefer. U Mobile’s promise is that the entire process won’t take longer than 2 hours.
The longest loan term is 33 months and the cheapest instalment plan is RM98, that’s with 0.84% interest. Of course, if you pick the longer instalment plan you actually pay over the long run. E.g RM2,472 (12x RM206) compared to RM3,234 (33x RM98). We’ve seen similar plans for Android smartphones before, but this is likely the first plan that doesn’t have an upfront payment for the iPhone 6.
If prepaid or postpaid plans are your preferred choices, there’s good news too because U Mobile will be providing subsidised iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus devices for those plans. The only thing to note is that the prices quoted by U Mobile are valid till 31 March 2015, because once GST kicks in the prices are going to be different. Also, if you decide that you want to switch over to another service, there’s no penalty to pay since you won’t be tied down by a contract.
Check out the rates for the plans below; note that prepaid and postpaid plans are identical.
