Twitter Takes A Page Out Of Facebook; Now Has Emoji Reactions In The DMs

Twitter has taken a page out of Facebook (GET IT???) and added emoji reactions in direct messages. Yes, that’s right, now when you slide in the DMs, you can be responded to with just a ‘😂’. Well, you already could before but it’s different. The featured has rolled out to all users on the web, iOS and Android.

And the reason I say it’s essentially taking a feature over from Facebook is because, Facebook has had the feature in Messenger since 2017. The difference with this is you can reply to individual messages with the emojis, something you couldn’t do on Twitter before this. The DMs already aren’t a great place for longstanding conversations because of how clustered it can turn out to be, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Anyway, the official @TwitterSupport account had teased the feature by showing off the emojis that will be available when it was live.

Which was hardly a cryptic message, but it’s cute. Now, how do you use it?

To add an emoji react, hover to the message and click/two on the heart button, or double-tap the message to select an emoji react after it pops up. It includes 7 various emojis, and you’ll be able to use it on any type of Direct Message. That really means anything, like a text message, a gif, any media, or a link to another tweet.

And NGL, this is going to add a whole new dynamic to the group chat. Prepare to be flamed boisss.
