Twitter higher ups have been making some waves in recent months in regards to the changes that they’ll be making to the micro blogging site. It seems that the plan is simple. Just do the exact opposite of what Facebook is doing, and it seems to be working well, with reception to the recent ban on all political advertising on the platform being overwhelmingly positive.
It seems that thats not the only shake up that will be happening on the site. Twitter’s vice president of design and research, Dantley Davis, has hinted that some BIG changes could be happening to Twitter in 2020. He says that he’s excited to “explore” in 2020 and that ” exploration and experimentation have always been a part of our process.”
The features he mentions in his tweet are in a nutshell fundamental changes that will give users more control over their tweets. For example, how retweets work and the ability to remove yourself from a conversation.
Features that I’m looking forward to in 2020.

– Don’t allow RT of this tweet
– Don’t allow people to @mention me without my permission
– Remove this @mention from this conversation

The ability to disable retweets on your tweet is probably the golden idea here. No one wants to have to change your profile privacy to private just because other people with bad intentions have misinterpreted one of your tweets and retweeted it as a means to direct negativity at you.
It’s worth mentioning that while Davis is “looking forward to” these new features, the company aren’t officially announcing anything just yet. In fact, in a statement to The Verge, Twitter clarifies that they’re just ideas the company is exploring and it may not come to fruition at all.
