Toshiba Releases 10 Terabyte Hard Drives For Consumer Use

Toshiba has just announced six new series of internal hard drives for the consumer market namely for the desktop, notebooks, high performance, NAS, video streaming and for surveillance.

The desktop edition P300 series is designed ideally for for home and business users with its storage capacity that’s up to 3TB . They operate at 7,200rpm and have built-in shock sensors that detect impacts and reduce vibration during read and write operations. For notebooks, the L200 series comes in 2.5 inch and stores up to 2TB worth of data. Users who require high performance hard drives can opt for the X300 10TB which features Toshiba’s cache technology, optimising cache allocation during read/write to provide high-level real-time performance. Available in a 3.5-inch form factor, the X300 drives operate at 7,200rpm and have a cache memory of up to 256MB.

NAS edition is available in capacities of up to 10TB, and features 7,200rpm and 256MB data buffer for the 10TB model. Scalable, the N300 is able to support up to eight drive bays in a multi-RAID NAS design, and can be configured in NAS by users as their data storage needs evolve. Video content creators may want to consider the V300, Toshiba made this hard drive as a reliable video recording and playback storage system. With built-in silent seek technology, V300 is extremely quiet operation and has energy efficient design elements.

Lastly, the S300 surveillance hard drive series offers 24×7 robust performance with a large cache size up to 256MB. Transfer speed on the drives is at a maximum of 248 MB/sAvailable in capacities of up to 10TB, the new surveillance hard drives can handle high workloads of up to 180TB per year and support surveillance network video recorders, surveillance digital video recorders, hybrid sDVR and RAID storage arrays for surveillance.
