Toshiba has decided to spin off its memory business. For years now, Toshiba has produced both hard drives and solid state drives (some under the OCZ brand name), but it appears these will be produced by a separate division – perhaps one that Toshiba can more easily manage and possibly sell wholesale.

The official reason given is for greater flexibility both in terms of production and financing. They’ve yet to name this new division but have indicated that it’ll happen in late March 2017.
