Top Samsung Internet 5.4 Features To Simplify Your Smartphone

Samsung is getting deeper into the use of its smartphones with the updates it is rolling out for its native mobile web browser, Samsung Internet 5.4.

The worlds largest smartphone manufacturer is expanding its role in the ecosystem by expanding additional features and extensions for the browers including the IoT-to-web browser function, CloseBy, and an optimised browsing experience for Samsung DeX. Users will find some of the features interesting while others are preparing you for the upcoming technology to your country.

Making Things Easier

The CloseBy extension, is an IoT-to-browser application that provides users with more information about their surroundings, when users approach a Physical Web beacon that pushes a URL, the feature will provide a notification. For instance the use of this technology can be found at city bus stops enabled with the beacon technology. As you approach a busy bus stop, CloseBy will receive a notification URL that will allow the user to quickly visit a site that provides information on bus routes and arrival times.

The Content blocking feature is another example, an extension API will now enable a range of 3rd party content blocker add-ons by simply tapping on the function.

Keeping the screen clean with needful yet unnecessary apps, Samsung is doing away with the QR code app. With the new browser, the phone utilises the camera to read QR codes by enabling the scan extension in the menu.

Dex released with Galaxy S8 models has been a labour of love for Samsung, proudly encapsulating the software push by the maker. A bridging app that allows mobile computing on larger devices. It optimises the new browser to provide users with a browsing experience that’s similar in function and feel to a desktop or laptop browsing experience.

Multiple browsers can be opened at the same time, similar to multiple tab browsing, enabling users to work or shop with ease. Syncing with Chrome can be also easily done via a handy new extension to link the platforms and gain access to bookmarks from both browsers.
