NASA recently announced that it will be working with veteran actor, Tom Cruise, on a film that will be shot in space.
The news was confirmed by a tweet from Jim Bridenstine, NASA’s administrator. A couple of hours later SpaceX founder Elon Musk responded excitement over the project:

Musk himself is reportedly involved in the project as well. In fact, Cruise was first reported to be working with SpaceX to shoot the film.
Now, however, it’s pretty clear that all three parties are somehow involved in this project.
There’s not much detail on exactly what film Cruise will be doing for the stunt. If you were wondering, it’s not a Mission Impossible film, either.
According to Variety, the film will be an action-adventure feature film and will have scenes shot aboard the International Space Station.
That still brings up the possibility that there could be scenes… outside the space station. I mean, who knows?
This is probably the very first time a feature film will actually be shot in space, and I certainly can’t think of anyone better to do it but Tom Cruise himself.
Most of the crazy stunts Cruise does that I’m aware of are mostly from the Mission Impossible movies, where he has clung to the side of a plane, rode a helicopter, climbed Burj Khalifa, and so on.
His next major flick, Top Gun: Maverick, will see Cruise actually flying the aircraft shown in the trailer, so there’s that too.
Hopefully, NASA will drop in more details regarding this exciting project that will turn Cruise from an international star to an interplanetary one.
