
As part of showcasing and testing 5G in real world situation, TM is working with Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya to demonstrate its 5G capability on smart traffic light management in SS15, Subang Jaya, Selangor and Langkawi, Kedah.
Commenting on the Company’s participation in the 5G Demonstration Project, Dato’ Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM said, “As the national communications provider, we have established the communications backbone of Malaysia with the widest connectivity and convergence network. With an extensive 560,000km fibre network nationwide, including 77% mobility coverage, TM is deploying our tested and proven 5G-enabled smart solutions for the showcase in Subang Jaya and Langkawi a testament of our commitment towards humanising the technology in improving the quality of lives of the Rakyat.”
TM will be demonstrating a total of 21 from the 55 5G use cases across various verticals, as announced by Al-Ishsal Ishak, Chairman of MCMC recently. The 5G Malaysia Demonstration Project is an initiative by the MCMC to facilitate, build and nurture the development of potential use cases of 5G in a live but controlled environment and grow the 5G ecosystem in Malaysia through identified verticals.
Out of the 21 use cases, seven (7) will be deployed in SS15, Subang Jaya in collaboration with Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya, while 14 use cases will be deployed in Langkawi in collaboration with the island’s local authority, Majlis Perbandaran Langkawi Bandaraya Pelancongan.
The use cases that will be deployed by TM cover Big Data Analytics, Smart City, Smart Tourism and Smart Agriculture clusters, focusing in making life easier, meeting the needs, and enriching the lives of the Rakyat. In Subang TM will be testing its network on Smart Traffic Lights Solutions, Smart Parking Solutions, Smart Safety & Security Solutions, Open Innovation Platform (OIP), Retail Footfall Analytics (ACE), Smart Water Meter System (RITA) Fleet Management System (CONVES).
