There was once a time when apparently, Tom Cruise was slated to don the Iron Man mantle. Of course, that all played out very differently when push comes to shove, with Robert Downey Jr. famously took the role of Iron Man. But have you wondered how it would’ve been like to have none other than Tom Cruise in the now integral Iron Man role? Well wonder no more with this new video from Collider does just that, and uses deepfake video manipulation software to see if Cruise could stack up.

And as you can tell, it’s really not a very good look for the other wise charming (albeit psychotic) Tom Cruise. Maybe it’s due to the software of deepfakes in general, or maybe it’s just because in my head, no one could ever replace Downey Jr. as the Iron Man. Or maybe, it’s a combination of both. It’s kind of weird seeing the Cruise’s face juxtaposed in the Iron Man suit, but also the deepfake itself looked, eh. It’s still commendable regardless, but it’s just not right.
