Turkish company Albayraklar Defence has made an electroshock gun that it claims will rival the US Taser; for usage in the police force.

The Albayraklar’s Wattozz will reduce the number of deaths in police shootings, Albayrak said. It is the world’s first wireless electroshock gun.

Around the world, more than a million law enforcers are still using the wired-technology electric guns as means to protect themselves against attacks. These devices temporarily incapacitate a person without doing any long-term damage.

Nevertheless, those wired-electric guns have caused serious injuries, and even led to fatalities. Amnesty International reported dozens of cases  where its usage has caused serious injuries; whereas in the US alone, more than 1,000 deaths have been reported by REUTERS since the year 2000.

New technology from Turkey has developed a much more safer electroshock gun. Dian Synergy Sdn Bhd is the sole supplier of the Wattozz Gun here in Malaysia; supplying law enforcement officers. It is due to be available by end of this month (January).

How Does a Electroshock Gun Work?

Guns employing wired technology are inherently risky because of its limited accuracy, as a result of the spread of the flimsy dangling wires connected to the weapon. Two dart-like electrodes (which stays connected to the gun) propel out of the gun with a 50 cm or more spread – compromising accuracy and increasing risk.

The Wattozz gun has a knob to remotely control its bullets (low, mid and high) – adjusting shock duration. It does not use gas or gun powder; a safer alternative to the wired electroshock guns. It has three modes – Bullet 1, Bullet 2 and Contact Mode. The gun allows multi-shot. The Wattozz comes equipped with a flashlight, laser pointer and a camera.
