Looks like it’s going to take a while longer for Bixby voice controls to reach your phones.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Samsung’s much touted assistant won’t reach your hands until at least late June – over 2 months late since the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 handset.

According to WSJ, the reason for the delay is because Bixby is still struggling to understand English.

The voice enabled assistant has been available in Korea (in Korean, in case that wasn’t obvious), is “struggling to comprehend English syntax and grammar,” according to the report.

“Bixby Voice benefits from time to further enhance natural language understanding, and we are currently growing our user testing in the U.S. to prepare for launch,” a Samsung representative said in a statement, noting that other Bixby features, like Bixby Vision, which uses the S8’s camera, are already live.

We still don’t know when it will officially be made available,  but WSJ reported the assistant won’t ship “until at least late June.”

Considering the handset has a dedicated Bixby button on the side of its phone, which cannot be remapped, this is a big deal for Samsung. With any longer delays, they just might be facing a mob with pitchforks outside their door. Figuratively and literally.
