The iPhone In 2021 Could Be Totally Wireless; No More Lighting Ports?

While we move a truly wireless future, it seems that Apple may be fast approaching another level of the term. Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo has shown new research notes for the 2021 iPhone lineup of devices, that could essentially mean not ports at all on the whole device. Forget a headphone jack, there won’t even be a a Lighting port to charge your phone.

That would theoretically mean that you’d need everything to be wireless. You can’t connect to a wall adapter to charge your phone, or connect your phone to your computer. The headphone jack has been gone for awhile already, so it’s not that missed, but I’m not too sure about how efficient it would be to be able to charge only wirelessly. Because it has it’s limitations. Charging wirelessly right now, means setting the phone on to a wireless charging pad. That means you can’t text or use the phone you normally do, as the phone would be anchored to the pad.

I honestly, don’t even know how to feel about this. As much as I am for a wireless future, this implementation would make things just that much more difficult. I mean, is a charging port that intrusive anyway? Why make your hardware less safe/usable? But then again, it is Apple we’re talking about here… They’re not really known for customer intuitiveness.
