HP enters the gaming laptop scene.

Gaming laptops are machines that have slowly been gaining traction over the years. Not wanting to miss out on this sector of the market, HP has entered the fray by announcing the OMEN gaming notebook, the first gaming notebook designed by HP themselves.

Being their first foray in the gaming laptop scene, HP has attempted to cram as many high performance part into this device. Sporting a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M and an Intel Core i7 Quad Core processor, the OMEN, priced from RM 6,999,  is capable of high performance with stunning graphics being surprisingly thin. Another curiosity of the OMEN is the 15.6 inch diagonal, 1080p touch-enabled display, making this one of the few gaming laptops out in the market that features a touchscreen.

In order to prevent overheating, the HP OMEN comes with dual fans that pull cool air through the bottom of the system while pushing hot air through exhaust fans at the rear of the system – keeping hot air away from the keyboard and the gamer’s hands. For those looking for customisation options, the OMEN comes with the HP OMEN Control software that allows users to assign shortcuts to the programmable function keys, customise the multi-zone lighting, and allows the user to turn off the trackpad or disable the 15.6 inch diagonal touchscreen to suit their gaming needs.

Alongside the OMEN, HP has also revealed the HP Stream line of thin and light notebook PCs. These notebook PCs, which are priced from RM 1,099, comes with one year free access to Microsoft OneDrive and Office 365 Personal.
