
Due to the rising mobile adoption in Asia Pacific and Africa, the rate of mobile penetration worldwide is expected to reach 70%, which equals to more than 5.5 billion users, by 2022. Apart from that, the continuous reduction of smartphone prices by the Chinese brands is one of the factors that smartphone subscribers will reach 3.8 billion in the next five years.
As the saying goes, the beginning of something is usually the end of something else. The increased adoption of smartphones is leading to a decline in tablet sales, falling from 615 million in 2016 to 579 million in 2022.
In addition, the rise of Chinese-made phones is predicted to increase the Android ecosystem. By the end of 2017, Android devices are expected to capture 73% of the market, with Apple claiming 21% and Windows 4%.
