Tesla have had a pretty solid year. I mean yes, Elon Musk does go off the rails on Twitter somethings, tweeting things that don’t exactly help the company, but the company bounced back from that, recording an impressive financial quarter. That being said, the company has just announced it’s latest product in the form of the much anticipated Cybertruck.
Elon Musk, in his never ending quest to make the world a greener place took to the stage of Tesla’s design studio in Hawthorne, California to show off the Cybertruck himself.
The truck will come with three different battery ranges offering 250+, 300 or 500+ miles per charge, depending on the setup and will support 250kW charging via Superchargers. It also racks up some pretty impressive numbers according to Musk. The Cybertruck is capable of going 0-100 in just 2.9 seconds, able to tow 14,000 pounds and If the demo video is to be believed, can beat a Ford F-150 in a tug of war and Porsche’s 911 off the line, which is really really impressive.
The eccentric CEO also took this opportunity to show off how tough the Cybertruck is by bombarding it with ball bearings, hammer shots and even gun shots. Unfortunately the truck didn’t fare so well during the demonstration of the company’s “Tesla Armor Glass,” as you can see from the video below:

Musk was unfazed by this though, claiming “it didn’t go through.” and that during earlier tests, the glass didn’t break.
In terms of design, the truck looks like something straight out of Blade Runner. Tesla’s design language has always been futuristic looking and the Cybertruck is no different. The big question now is whether or not it will be able to appeal to mainstream truck buyers. It’s far out design may not be for everyone but one thing’s for sure, those looking to reduce their carbon footprint will probably be more than happy to drive this thing.
The electric pick-up truck’s starting price will be US$39,900 but can go up to US$70,000 for the top spec model, with the company already taking pre-orders now.
