Forbes recently released its Top 10 List of Most Reputable Companies and Swiss luxury watchmaker Rolex tops the list for the second year in a row. The Forbes Top 10 List is also a great achievement for four tech and/or tech-related companies who have also made it onto the list, mainly Canon, Google, Sony and Intel.
The ranking is on feedback collected from some 170,000 respondents familiar with them, compiled annually by The Reputation Institute (RI). The Boston-based company records companies’ scores using its proprietary RepTrak Pulse measurement system, tracking a company’s perception in seven different categories:
- Products & Services
- Innovation
- Workplace
- Governance
- Citizenship
- Leadership
- Performance
Canon (4th), Google (5th) and Sony (7th) managed to maintain its top 10 position while Intel – who was 11th last year – managed to climb its way up to 8th. Microsoft, on the other hand, dropped to 11th but was 7th the previous year. Other notable tech companies that made it into the top 100 include HP. Inc (36th), Amazon.com (18th), IBM (19th), Philips Electronics (21st), Panasonic (35th), Netflix (40th), LG (63rd), Dell (68th), and Nokia (76th). You can also visit the full list at Forbes’ website.
Apple is one company in particular that rounded up the list last year but has since suffered a drastic drop to the 20th slot in this year’s list. Another company to suffer a great drop was Samsung Electronics, who placed 17 last year saw them drop all the way down to 70th. This is due to the fiasco that happened during the tail end of 2016 where countless Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices were recalled due to overheating, and in some cases, caught fire.
