Taobao Malaysia has rolled out a Bahasa Malaysia interface on its app, allowing users to shop in Bahasa Melayu, English or Chinese – a move aimed at making the platform more accessible and inclusive for local consumers.
This update arrives alongside the launch of the platform’s 618 Mid-Year Sale, which runs from 28 May until 20 June 2025.
In addition to the new language feature, the app now includes an AI-powered Image Search function, Coins Cashback incentives through daily check-ins and selected purchases, and exclusive deals for first-time users from as low as RM0.62.
“We’re excited to kick off this year’s 618 Mid-Year Sale with greater momentum and purpose,” said Jess Lew, Country Head of Taobao Malaysia.
“At Taobao, we reaffirm our commitment to connecting all Malaysians through a platform that is not only more localised but also more secure and service-driven.”
The company also highlighted its support for the local community, referencing its 2020 and 2022 collaboration with state governments and institutions through the LiveNOW livestream KOL training programme. The initiative trained over 500 local livestreamers, with a focus on empowering low-income groups.
“We remain deeply committed to supporting our local community… through a wider selection of fashion and home furniture categories with more affordable price and air shipping as fast as five working days,” Jess added.
To celebrate, Taobao is offering promotions including:
- Free sea shipping for orders above ¥199 (RM116)
- Instant payment discounts of up to RM68
- Up to 50% off promo codes
- Daily flash sales and product discounts up to 15%
- A “Spend & Win” air ticket campaign to Seoul in partnership with RHB Bank
The Taobao app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
