I know times are hard and money is tight but gambling shouldn’t be a solution to the problem. You might end up losing more money than gaining. It is after all, a gamble.
Last night at a condominium in Mont Kiara, total of 21 individuals, including 6 women were arrested by the police in a raid. These individuals are believed to be involved in illegal lottery and online gambling.
As reported by Bernama, Brickfields District Police Chief ACP Zairulnizam Mohd Zainuddin said those arrested in the 11pm raid included 15 local men, 5 local women and a woman from the United Kingdom.
“A total of 21 computers, 42 mobile phones and a modem were confiscated and taken to the police station to aid investigations,” he said, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
In a separate incident, Zairulnizam said a local man was arrested for trying to obstruct police during a check on conditional movement control order (CMCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs) at a premise in Bangsar yesterday.
The 25-year-old suspect was arrested around 8pm for questioning and obstructing police officers in the course of performing their duty which was conducting a check on the suspect’s friend who was found not wearing a face mask.
According to Zairulnizam, the suspect was brought to Brickfields Police Station for further investigation and the case would be investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code.
He added that 26 special monitoring teams have been established and are focused on tracking cross-district movements to ensure maximum compliance in the Brickfields region.
Just earlier this month, 26 men and 11 women were arrested by Petaling Jaya Police for promoting and managing over 500 online gambling applications.
The suspects were arrested in a raid carried out at a business premises in Section 13 Petaling Jaya and according to Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal, the arrested suspects were between the ages of 21 to 43 years old.
