Steam is changing their gift policy. Gift to email and gift to inventory will be booted and replaced with an direct exchange from gift buyer to receiver.
You can now schedule and buy gifts months in advance and have it delivered to a friend on time.
Also, if someone declines a gift – it won’t sneakily end up back in the giver’s inventory while remaining billed. Instead, if a gift is declined, the purchase is refunded directly to the gift giver.
Finally, it’s easier to send gifts to friends in different countries. Gifts sent through the new system will always work on the receiver’s account and if there’s a significant difference in pricing, gifting won’t be available and the giver will be notified prior to purchase.
Changes should be available now, although pre-existing gifts won’t be affected by these changes.
