The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) is widely known as a group which advocates only the best products for photography and imaging. Recently, Sony receives six awards from TIPA Awards 2018, in recognition of the company’s contribution to the digital imaging industry.
TIPA Awards 2018 show recognition in the following categories:
BEST MIRRORLESS CSC EXPERT FULL FRAME: a7 III
The a7 III camera features a 24.2MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor with 15-stop dynamic range at low sensitivities. The sensor also combines with a variety of impressive features. These features include extreme AF coverage of 93%, fast shooting of 10 fps, diverse 4K video capabilities, and more.
BEST MIRRORLESS CSC PROFESSIONAL HIGH RES: a7R III
The full-frame a7R III camera contains a high-resolution 42.4 MP back-illuminated full-frame Exmor R CMOS image sensor. It shoots pictures at up to 10 fps with full AF/AE tracking. The camera also boasts 4K video quality, wide 15-stop dynamic range, high sensitivity with noise reduction, and more. Furthermore, the camera is light and compact, making it suited for photographers, videographers, and multi-media creators.
BEST MIRRORLESS CSC PROFESSIONAL HIGH SPEED: a9
Sony states that the full-frame a9 camera delivers many capabilities not possible with modern digital SLR cameras. These features include blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 20 fps, 60 AF/AE tracking calculations per second, a maximum shutter speed of up to 1/32,000 second, and more. The a9’s 35mm Exmor RS CMOS sensor enables data speed processing at 20x faster than Sony’s own Alpha 7II. This is paired with an upgraded BIONZ X processing engine, as well as front-end LSI to maximise performance. In addition to silent shooting, the camera also combines a focusing system that features up to 693 phase detection AF points. This allows the camera to reliably capture even the fastest moving subjects.
BEST CSC STANDARD ZOOM LENS: FE 24–105mm F4 G OSS
This full-frame lens covers the commonly used 24 to 105mm focal length range. It delivering powerful G Lens imaging performance with the most lightweight design in its class, maximising versatility and usability. Therefore, Sony assures that the FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS can be used for landscapes, portraits, weddings, and more. This lens also features fast autofocus capabilities in both still and video shooting.
BEST CSC TELEPHOTO ZOOM LENS: FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS
The FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS full-frame lens maintains the high resolution standard set by Sony’s flagship G Master series lenses. Additionally, it offers precise AF capabilities, a lightweight design, as well as plenty of professional customisability. The lenses pair well with enthusiasts and professional shooters who specialise in sports or wildlife.
BEST SUPERZOOM CAMERA: RX10 IV
The RX10IV camera’s has a fast AF acquisition time of 0.03 seconds and continuous shooting of up to 24fps. Aside from that, it features full AF/AE tracking and 315 phase-detection AF points. Sony pitches the RX10 IV model as a strong mix of mobility and speed for those seeking an ultimate ‘all-in-one’ solution. The camera also features 4K movie recording, with full pixel readout and no pixel binning, making it also suitable for videographers.
