Sony Accidentally Revealed The Xperia 5 Via Livestream Mishap

Sony is about to announce their latest Xperia smartphone at IFA 2019 today, and looks like they made an oppsie. Ahead of the event, the smartphone maker accidentally revealed it’s new smartphone in what looks to be a test livestream, so we can basically now confirm that it’s going to be called the Sony Xperia 5.

Sony teased that they’re making a more compact Xperia 1, which has a cinematic 21:9 4K HDR display. Now it’s revealed that the smaller Xperia 5 will also come with the 21:9 aspect ratio, and uses and OLED panel with HDR support. The device will also probably come with Dolby Atmos support, and we figure it’ll come with stereo speakers.

In terms of it’s specs, the Xperia 5 is expected to run on a Snapdragon 855 processor and also will have a similar triple came setup like the Xperia 1.

Although, we are pretty unclear on why the leap to 5, when they’ve just released the Xperia 1. Could it be some sort of hidden message Sony’s trying to send us? I doubt, but I guess the number 5 sounds better than 2,3, or 4.

Their IFA showcase is slated to happen at 8pm, Malaysian time, so we’ll see if they have an explanation, and if this leak is as accurate as we think it is.
