Snapchat added some new functionality to their Stories feature. Now users can search over one million unique Stories on Snapchat.

According to a blog post by the popular social media sharing company, they used advanced machine learning to understand what’s happening in Snaps that are submitted to Our Story, and to create new Stories.

Stories was launched in October 2013, and has since evolved from single perspectives to the Our Stories feature, including collective narratives created and submitted by the community and curated by the Snapchat team. However the amount of Stories submitted for curation has outgrown the capacity of the team, leading to the company looking for new ways of approaching this.

Stories allows the community to see what is happening in various parts of the world from the view points of other Snapchat users who are on the scene – including watching a local sports game, events happening overseas, or random collections of whatever they fancy.

Users can easily add their Stories to Our Story on the app and it might be included in other relevant Stories. Stories in Search has started rolling out to specific cities and will be globally available after.
