Smartphones Changing The Way Malaysians Communicate

Did you know you have a supercomputer in your pocket? No really. You have a device that literally talks to satellites in space in real time – while letting you look at your favourite cat videos on Youtube. Yup, you guessed right – your smartphone’s what we’re talking about.

Ever since these lil gizmos showed up, the world’s changed quite a bit. Our digital lifestyles are firmly linked to our gadgets and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

For example, think about how you do things for a minute:

Taking pictures, editing them and sharing them with the world

Making videos that look professional while on the go

Sharing music you make

Staying in touch with friends

Talking (or rather video calling!) friends and family

Directions! (yes, women everywhere were right … we need help)

Reviews to find the yummiest spots and of course …pizza, nasi goreng and the bestest milo dinosaur kaw

And so much more.

But like everything else, smartphones need to be fed. And I’m not talking about their batteries – cos’ that’s a whole ‘other article right there!

Like kryptonite to Superman, bad data connections can stop even the most advanced smartphones. Slow, unstable or expensive – the result is the same. Without data, you’re pretty much out of gas on the information superhighway.

But these days, data is everywhere right? Well, yes and no. Because it isn’t just about whether you can get data – it’s the quality of the data connection.

Let me explain. Up until a year ago, everyone had to pick from mobile plans that kind of looked and sounded the same. They had quotas, contracts and all kinds of things that didn’t really need to be there. And the costs of these plans… ridiculous!

Thanks to companies like webe – who pioneered the idea of never ending data, no contracts, no quotas and of course a much lower fee for us all! – we now have a much better set of options out there. We even have other providers starting to follow suit. Yay for consumers!

See, the question remains. How can ALL of us experience seamless and fast connectivity? And as the demand for a faster seamless connection grows, new technologies like 5G – coming soon no doubt! – grows as well.

But being Malaysians, we sometimes forget that we have to play our part too.

For instance- we really should become better at picking our mobile plans. More importantly, we can do something immediately that many of us still haven’t – switch over to 4G.

See, we still have people in Malaysia that depend on 3G when we now have the best of 4G LTE options available. That is like driving your car in second gear – all the time!

If you have a newer phone – we call them band 5 phones and you can learn more about them here (link to webe page) – you can get even better connectivity and a much faster, stabler connection by simply switching on your 4G LTE options.

Awesome new LTE networks aren’t as much fun unless we use them right. So come on, get connected. The right way.
