Is there anything worst than being betrayed by your own family member or friend? How would you react when you find out that someone you know has been posting private photos of you online?
A Singaporean man was recently arrest for posting private photos of his friends and family members on an online forum. The 41-year-old married man posted screenshots of these voyeuristic videos into his sexual fantasy story on Sammyboy, a sex-themed forum.
As reported by Singapore’s The Straits Times, court documents showed that the man planted cameras in various bathrooms, including his own, to record voyeuristic videos of his wife, his sister-in-law, his church friends and family friends showering and has been doing so since 2008.
The Singaporean man was sentenced to 28 weeks jail and fined $6,000 (RM 18,342). He had earlier pleaded guilty to 11 charges relating to his voyeuristic activities. A further 16 similar charges were considered during the sentencing.
Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) R. Arvindren said that the man did it was because he “felt accepted in the Sammyboy forum community and felt that the church community were hypocrites”.
The man got caught after one of his victims was informed by her friend that her nude photos were on the website. During sentencing on Wednesday, the district judge noted that the man was diagnosed with voyeurism or paraphilia, a condition characterised by abnormal sexual desires, but said this did not affect his impulse control.
But the judge said he noted the man had cooperated with the police and wanted to apologise to his victims. Honestly, 28 weeks in jail and a fine is not enough for me. He deserves a heavier punishment. How could you do that to your friends and family? Can’t you just pick a hobby like painting?
And this kind of thing is happening all over the world including Malaysia. How do they even sleep at night?
