There is no denying that retail is going online in a big way, eCommerce is expanding like never imagined. Consumers tend to use their phones and PC to browse and shop and the traffic is growing at a phenomenal rate. But to have heavy industrial equipment for sale online has to be a bold move, this was recently made possible with Sime Darby Industrial and Digi Telecommunications.
In line with its Industrial Revolution 4.0 strategy, Sime Darby Industrial which distributes Caterpillar brand equipment and Digi X the digital arm of the telco established Industrial Valet, a dedicated e-commerce platform selling industrial heavy equipment parts and merchandise directly to customers.
The platform was a result to the increasingly demanding customers who needed speed, efficiency and value-added services from the company with online, solutions could be delivered faster at lower costs, and the savings can eventually be passed on to customers.
Currently, there are 500 parts and merchandise available for online purchase and more items to be added to the inventory in the near future. Orders will then be delivered right to customers’ doorsteps.
The platform works as a new digital sales channel that is accessible across any smart device and provides SDI a new way to serve its customers in an easy, efficient manner – from enabling customers to buy directly off the platform. Digi will be responsible to build the e-commerce platform, integrating existing backend systems and driving leads to the website.
