Shopee wraps up its largest 11.11 Big Sale yet. Here’s some of their numbers that make this year’s 11.11 their most successful yet, setting new records on the day:
● 70 million items sold on 11 November
● 3 times more orders were recorded in the 1st hour compared to 2018
But the sale wasn’t the only thing around on Shopee that day, as there were also the new games in-app. There was also their first augmented reality game, Shopee Catch, so they were doing something different this time around. The games were played over 150 million times in three weeks. Alongside that, they also got 65 million views on Shopee Live. Something that attributed to their sales this year is the fact that there was nationwide free shipping with a minimum spend of RM 11. I’m sure that helped consumers at least a a bit.
Top-performing brands recorded an average of 5,659 times increase in visits and 740 times growth in orders, while shopping activity peaked over lunch at 12.10PM, as the sale fell on a working weekday.
Biggest gainers include Tefal, Skechers, and Acer who recorded a 3,408-time, 2,870-time, and 1,743-time uplift in orders respectively.
Newcomer on Shopee, KFC recorded finger lickin’ good (hah) sales with the highest number of orders from the F&B category.
The amount of KFC meals that were purchased on Shopee could feed the entire Putrajaya population.
Malaysia’s much-loved fast food restaurant brand was also searched for almost half a million times on Shopee on 11 November itself.
Earlier in the year, Shopee saw a growing trend where users were more confident in purchasing big ticket items on the platform. This time time around, there were more people purchasing not only low and mid-range phones, but flagships such as the iPhone 11 Pro Max, Huawei P30, ASUS ROG Phone II, Samsung Galaxy S10+ and more. Assuming that’s an indication of the trust people now have in Shopee.
Ian Ho, Regional Managing Director, Shopee said, “We have been charting a strong momentum this year-end sales season. Despite 11.11 being a global shopping festival, Shopee has been able to get this region on board and interested by successfully localising the campaign to suit our users wants and needs. In Malaysia, our efforts were backed by sellers, brands, and partners who joined us to deliver an engaging and social shopping experience. This is not merely Shopee’s success but a success shared by the wider Malaysian retail industry.”
