Shopee Launches Next-Day Delivery in Peninsular Malaysia for 3.3 Supermarket Sale

Shopee has launched the next-day delivery service to most states across Peninsular Malaysia (excluding Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu) via Shopee Xpress on the occasion of the 3.3 Supermarket Sale that started yesterday till March 3.

Orders have to be placed before 12pm for buyers to enjoy the next-day delivery service, and is applicable for purchases on Shopee Mart with the Next-Day Delivery tag. Any orders placed after that will be considered as the next day’s orders, and will be delivered the following day.

The service applied for weekend orders as well but does not include deliveries on public holidays. On the occasion that the eligible orders are not delivered by the next day, users will receive a Free Shipping voucher to be used on their next Shopee Mart purchase, applied to terms and conditions.

Shopee Mart is an in-app portal that offers an assortment of over 11,000 products from groceries to household needs from trusted names such as Nestlé, Munchy’s, Top, Sunlight and Drypers.

Shopee shared the next-day delivery service as a part of its efforts in shortening delivery time for sellers and buyers in Malaysia.

Parcel Monitor and iPrice has discovered that the Covid-19 lockdown impacted final mile logistics, increasing delivery time by 119 percent for Malaysia in 2020. Parcel Perform and iPrice Group also reported that Malaysia had the longest wait time for their deliveries in Southeast Asia in 2019.

Shopee responds to this by widened its logistics network and announced strategic partnerships to cater to the growing reliance on e-commerce and greater expectations for faster deliveries.

Some other efforts included are the introduction of 10 new Shopee Xpress drop-off points, and a partnership with Parcelhub and MBE which brings the total number of drop-off points to more than 300 nationwide.

The increase of drop-off points is expected to trim sellers’ travel time and subsequently reduce the duration from when buyers place their orders to receiving it at their doorstep.

Besides, at the moment, Shopee has warehouses, hubs and sorting centres in more than 50 strategic locations nationwide including areas such as Senawang, Bagan Serai, Batu Pahat, Simpang Ampat, and Bayan Lepas to increase delivery efficiency even to smaller towns.

The Regional Managing Director of Shopee, Ian Ho has said that the e-commerce platform has been working tirelessly alongside various logistics partners and scaling its logistics network by using big data and better projections to improve Malaysia’s delivery lead time since its inception in 2015. He also claimed the deliveries that used to take up to 10 days, and longer in East Malaysia, today have been reduced to one to four days.

Malaysians can give the next-day delivery service a try during the 3.3 Supermarket Sale which will also reward users with free shipping with a RM10 minimum spend, daily 50% off deals as well as bargains from as low as 33 sen.

It is also recommended to pay with Shopee as checkouts are faster, especially when trying to score limited deals.

The platform’s live streaming channel, Shopee Live is also working with TV3 to put together the best of TV shopping with the 3.3 Supermarket Show. The show should keep Malaysians entertained and bargain hunters at the edge of their seats will be aired on 3 March at 9PM.
