Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. recently announced that its movie, Scoob! will be releasing it on premium VOD and digital in both US and Canada on May 15, 2020.
Its theatrical debut was originally scheduled to release on the same day. Now, however, because of the current situation with the pandemic, Warner Bros. decided this to be the best move for the animated feature.
The movie will retail for $19.99 on premium VOD for 48 hours, while digital ownership will cost the US and Canadian citizens $24.99.
This isn’t the first movie to go without its theatrical release and debut on premium VOD. Universal’s animated feature, Trolls World Tour received the same treatment earlier this month on April 10.
The move got rather positive results, as the movie earned an estimated amount between $40 to $50 million in its first weekend. Warner Bros. is likely hoping to replicate that success by releasing its animated feature for home release, too.
As this only applies to the US and Canada, other countries will, unfortunately, be unable to enjoy the family flick. There’s no date stated for an international release on digital, so I guess other countries are going to have to wait it out.
Scoob! follows the story of how Shaggy and Scooby first met, followed by other main characters; Fred, Velma and Daphne.
Having shared many adventures together and solving hundreds of cases, the gang finds themselves facing their most challenging case ever. At the same time, they discover Scooby has a destiny that no one could have imagined.
The animated features voices from well-known stars; Will Forte as Shaggy, Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo, Zac Efron as Fred, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne, Gina Rodriguez as Velma and many more.
