Dude, what year am I in right now? Samurai Jack is back with a kickass looking game developed by Adult Swim Games and Japanese developer, Soleil Games. The brand new video game is based on the hit (and one of my favourite) animated series, Samurai Jack. IGN got the exclusive trailer for Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, and says that the game will be available for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch this Summer.

The game is actually set before Jack’s final boss battle with Aku, who is an evil entity that trapped Jack in various timelines in human history. Jack will then have to fight through these different timelines to reach Aku and defeat him. It’s essentially a hack-and-slash game with different melee and ranged weapons. Though, I’ll be using just his samurai sword and maybe the bow, because I’m a purist. Samurai Jack kicks ass alright!

Another plus point for the game is the fact that it’s being written by series head writer, Darrick Bachman. So I’m sure it’ll stay true to the original. While that’s great, something to keep in mind is that the original show actually debuted, 19 years ago, with Adult Swim picking it up for a final season in 2017. It might be a bit dated, but to me, Samurai Jack expanded on an amazing fantastical universe which was ripe with potential. Hopefully, this new game takes advantage of it to give a great experience to old time fans of the series (ME).
