Samsung’s wireless earbuds have been ever so popular, but now it looks like they’re trying to take that off the table. According to a new report from WinFuture, Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy Buds is apparently going to be released in the coming months. Most probably side by side with the Galaxy Note 20 in August.

Most notably though, it seems they’re going to go with a complete refresh, and adopting a very ‘beany-y’ design form. This will be something completely new for Samsung, both in terms of their design, and what the earbuds will be capable of.

Okay first of all, how exactly did this pass any sort of testing? How did someone agree to this? The thing looks so ugly. To me, anyway. The Galaxy Buds are aptly codenamed “bean” and well, it’s probably because they look so much like kidney beans. Apparently, this is supposed to help make a much more compact design and wouldn’t protrude from the user’s ear as much. I get that aspect of it though, I hate wireless buds that are gigantic, or somehow comes out the ear.

To me though, that just doesn’t look very comfortable. Trust me, someone who’s tried all sorts of cheap wireless earbuds, just to see at what price point are wireless earbuds usable. This just looks like it would hurt your ear in prolonged use. Plus, there’s no silicone earpiece or attachments, so there’s probably not going to be any form of noise cancellation.

I honestly can’t get over it’s design in the first place, so I can’t really concentrate on what these puppies would be capable of. But considering it’s very early in the testing phase (EV1 phase), it’s entirely possible we won’t even be seeing these come out to the public. I guess we’ll see what happens in the next few months.
