With the imminent threat of the coronavirus keeping people at home, and even cancelling showcase events such as MWC, Samsung has taken matters into it’s own hands in order to mitigate the industry wide projected slowdown in sales. The South Korean company is offering a delivery service that will send it’s latest products to your house for you to test.
That’s right, visiting a good ol brick and mortar store is so 2019, get your Galaxy S20 Ultra delivered to your home whilst you remain in your pyjamas, lying on the couch eating cereal whilst watching TV. What a life :’) Prospective buyers will now have 24 hours to test out devices their interested in after which Samsung’s dispatch will come and collect it to be returned.
While the concept of the service itself is not new, the coronavirus outbreak has made it daunting for prospective buyers to head on out to a crowded area, and Samsung recognizes this. This business strategy may just dampen the blow that the outbreak will have on its sales figures. Before you get all excited about having Samsung’s latest flagship delivered to your doorstep, the service is only available in certain parts of South Korea, so.. yeah.
In related news, Samsung’s response to the controversy behind it’s foldable devices will see the company rolling out an at-home repair service, where customers who have purchased a foldable will be able to call in an engineer to fix issues with the phone. Samsung might want to stock up on engineers, as we’re pretty sure they’re going to be getting a lot of calls. Regardless though, good on Samsung for facilitating a service as personalized as this.
