After the rejuvenation of the Samsung Galaxy Note series, it appears the Korean brand will be kick-starting the production of the Galaxy Note 9 “soon”. This comes after supposed inside sources claiming the next flagship will start its pilot production under the code name “Crown”.

The Galaxy Note 8 was produced under the code name “Baikal”, which follows the name of one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world in southern Siberia. The reasoning behind the naming convention of the Galaxy Note 8 could be down to Samsung’s use of the Infinity Display, which was inherited from the Galaxy S8.

Why would the Galaxy Note 9 code name be “Crown” then? For obvious reasons, it could probably be Samsung’s way of propelling itself back to the top of the smartphone market after the mishap with the Galaxy Note 7. It could also mean that Samsung is trying to protect its crown from any competitors who are looking to steal it; it’s anyone’s guess, really.

As of now, nothing much has been leaked aside form the code name so it’ll be interesting to see what Samsung has in-stored for 2018. Of course, don’t expect the Galaxy Note 9 to be arriving anytime soon as Samsung still has the Galaxy S9 deal with first.
