If you were out of the loop, Samsung is an official partner of the Olympic Games. And because of that, they’ve been making special editions of their current flagships, which are to be gifted to all the participating athletes in the games. But considering the Olympics are supposed to be held in Tokyo this summer, and all that’s going on with the coronavirus, I don’t know if that’s still a thing… There hasn’t been any word of a cancellation yet, but Samsung went ahead and unveiled the Galaxy S20+ 5G Olympic Edition in Matte Gold in partnership with local carrier NTT Docomo.

The major difference from previous iterations of these phones, is that the phone is available for customers. The Olympic Edition Galaxy S20+ comes with 12GB RAM and 128GB storage, and will sell for JPY114,840 (~RM4648). The normal variant in Cosmic Grey goes for JPY113,000 (~RM4,576), so the price difference isn’t that huge considering it’s a ‘special edition’ S20+.

However, so far it looks like the device can only be pre-ordered on Docomo’s website, which are scheduled to release in June. So if you were looking to cop yourself one of these, you might find it difficult.

One thing though, considering the current state of affairs with COVID-19, and a bunch of other events being cancelled, it’s not unfathomable to think the Olympics might be cancelled. But if they were, and you managed to snag one of these, I’m sure they’d be pretty special.

I mean, come on, an Olympic Edition Galaxy S20+ with NO Olympics that year? That’s gotta be a once in a life time occurrence.
