For the first time in its 10 year history, Samsung is playing catch up. The anxious engineers at Seoul will have to come up with a spectacular device in the next of weeks to blow competition away and regain the position as the go-to android in the planet.
We can imagine the stress level at Samsung Headquarters and no one wants to sit at that position right now. With Huawei strong on the heels with innovative concepts for their smartphone with rear camera jumping on the AI bandwagon quicker than its competition, Samsung was seen basking on its past glory. (remember BlackBerry or Nokia)
But its all hands on deck now, the Galaxy flag bearer the S series is coming to ten years and just like Apple did with the iPhone, a rejuvenation is much needed. Presumably, there will be a fanfare of sorts, looking the pre-hype and the change of venue away from MWC Barcelona (S9 launch) the new venue is Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco. We are suspecting more camera’s and higher megapixel and with the recently launched Exynos 9 series processor the combination will play a role in bringing all the elements together. Perhaps 8K video and editing on the fly, with video becoming the biggest pass time in Malaysia and across the globe, more emphasis should be given to this.
Teasers don’t reveal much for now, secrecy is the name of the game when there’s alot at stake. The Unpacked visual marks the 10 year anniversary, whether the series will be called S10 is anybody’s guess or will it go the Apple way and come up with symbols or other numeric terms? (our wish is not to see Samsung follow) As for the teasers, there were billboards plastered across Paris and even they don’t say much except for the large Korean text in black and white which just say…

“The future unfolds” and “February twentieth.”
What exactly does the future hold for the Galaxy brand? was the accompanied statement from the press release, a poignant moment indeed for the company.
The event will take place on the 20th San Francisco with live telecast scheduled here on the 21st.
