Samsung highlighted its latest advancements in AI-powered health solutions during the Health AI session at the Galaxy Tech Forum in San Jose, California. Experts discussed the role of AI in transforming daily health management by integrating various health metrics into a holistic approach.
Dr Patrick O’Connor from the University of Georgia emphasised the need to consolidate scattered health data, stating, “The issue is not the amount of data but the fragmentation. The key is to bring the scattered data together to create a comprehensive understanding, as health requires a holistic approach due to the interconnectedness of so many factors.”
President and CEO of the National Association of Community Health Centers Dr Kyu Rhee advocated for continuous tracking of key health indicators such as physical activity, sleep, nutrition and stress. “Combining this essential health data with clinical data powered by AI insights has the potential to transform the health system by improving health outcomes, reducing healthcare costs, and empowering patients, their caregivers and healthcare teams,” he said.
Samsung’s commitment to blood glucose monitoring was highlighted by Dr Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “Blood glucose is an area Samsung has been deeply invested in, and we’ve made significant progress in developing CGM-integrated nutrition coaching as well as enhancing non-invasive technologies for tracking blood glucose levels,” he said.
The discussion also introduced Samsung’s Energy Score, developed in collaboration with Dr O’Connor’s research team. “New AI-enabled features like Energy Score have become a jumping-off point for broader health innovations,” said Dr Pak. This feature, based on activity levels, sleep patterns and heart rate variability, is designed to provide users with an intuitive understanding of their overall health and readiness.
Samsung plans to further expand the AI capabilities of Energy Score to include nutrition, mental health, and even mobile usage patterns, offering users deeper insights into their well-being. The company’s advancements signal a shift towards personalised health experiences powered by continuous AI-driven monitoring.
